Phojo

https://phojo.app/

Phojo is a daily photo journal (get it, pho-jo?). The purpose of Phojo is to help record your life visually, and can be used instead of or as a complement to a written journal.

Phojo will show each day as a square on a timeline grid that you can zoom in and out of. A core aspect of Phojo is the relationship between space and time. Each day is one square. Fun exciting days take up as much space as boring days at the office. This is to help you realize what your life truly consist of. As you scroll through your timeline, you’ll soon pick up patterns you might not be aware of.

What Phojo is NOT is another social media. There are no likes or comments. Those things will make you post images for the benefit of an audience, and Phojo is meant to be a place for you to reflect on your life. You can have your Phojo public, but I recommend you keep it private to ensure that you use it for yourself.

You can use the app for free (including no ads as that would require me to sell your data!), for as long as running the app doesn’t cost the company too much, at which point I’ll have to start monetize it somehow.

Motivation behind the app

The motivation behind creating Phojo is my (Gustav’s) aphantasia, also known as mind blindness, a condition where you have no visual memory or ability to visualize anything in your head. This means that taking photos to document my life has always been important. But I needed something to motivate me to take pictures not just of the highlights but also my everyday life. And so, I came up with the idea of a daily photo journal.
